CliniClue Installation Instructions

Before installing

Note that CliniClue is provided as Freeware with no stated or implied warrantee of fitness for purpose. By installing or using this software the user accepts responsibility for any loss of damage occasioned directly or indirectly by its installation or use. Not withstanding this disclaimer every effort has been made to delivery quality software. Also note that you must have a licence to use or evaluate SNOMED Clinical Terms®. For more information see CliniClue Freeware licence.

Note: To allow SNOMED CT® to be viewed in CliniClue® you need to obtain ClueData files. Find out how to obtain these files by from our ClueData page.

Date is the date of the release of the software in the format YYYYMMDD.
Edition varies according to the SNOMED CT Edition.

RUN THE INSTALLATION PROGRAM AS FOLLOWS

1) Uninstall any previous version of CliniClue

Use the Control Panel "Add and Remove Programs" option to uninstall.

  • There is no need to remove earlier versions of CLUE (e.g. CLUE 5.4 or 5.5).
  • The uninstall does not delete previous data but you may wish to do this later.
  • The uninstall does not remove your license file if you have one already this works with this version.

2) Run the setup program

CliniClue_setup_DATE.exe

e.g. CliniClue_setup_20070212.exe

Follow the prompts to unzip and install the software.
If possible accept the default installation path:
c:\Program Files\cic\CliniClue Browser

If prompted to retain/overwrite more recent files select "Yes" to retain them.
DO NOT attempt to run CliniClue® until you have the data files

3) Obtaining ClueData (SNOMED CT® in the format used by CliniClue®)

You may have been provided with the data files by your organisation or by an IHTSDO Member.

This will be a large file 90Mb or larger with a name like SctDataEDITION_DATE.zip (or .exe)
For example:

International editions ... SctDataIntl_20080131.zip or SctDataIntl_20080131.exe

UK editions ... SctDataUk_20060430.zip or SctDataUk_20060430.exe

4) Installing ClueData files

5) Run CLUE Browser from the menu.

  • The first time you run the browser you will be prompted for a license key.
  • Demo key
    • You can use the browser by clicking the Demo Mode button and then entering a short four character validation key
      • Read the prompt message to see which four characters to type as these vary according to time and location.
  • Use the "Help"/"Licence Review" menu option to enter a new validation key when you have registered at www.cliniclue.com/register.
    • Registration is free of change.
